From what I've heard, Bush has been answering the question "are there plans to attack Iran?" by saying "we have no intention to invade Iran". Which of course is not the question that was asked. I don't think he's lying so much as avoiding answering a question. (Not to defend him.)

Besides, there's no way the US could invade Iran right now. There just aren't enough ground troops to attack a country with a large, relatively modern army. But an aerial attack of the scale of, say, the NATO bombardment of Serbia, would be straightforward, and would not be too surprising. Pretty bad idea, if you ask me, though, and very likely to backfire politically.

Who's Gonna Stop Him??  They've been grabbing power, eliminating impediments, for years now, and in the last month or so, we've seen a speeding up of the process.  If this unitary executive theory is allowed to stand, we will find ourselves owned by BushCo, and noone will be able to stop them.

both Dems and Republics are quietly supporting this. We know Israel is doing a full court press trying to get the U.S. to attack, and with their AIPAC and JINSA groups here plying Congress with money and pressure, it's a sure bet.

Add in the mostly neocon dominated MSM, working in concert with AIPAC, PNAC to spread propaganda, and you've got another scenario just like the prelude to Iraq.

I don't see how we can stop it, unless the Bush regime is impeached, and damned fast too. I know one thing, we should let our party know now, that anyone found supporting further Bush invasion and attack plans of any kind, will be held responsible, and will lose all support.

Our troops in Iraq will receive the wrath for the strikes on Iran, especially since Bush will have them conveniently embedded (and outnumbered) with the Iraqi army.

He's clearly making a distinction between attacking Iran without provocation versus what is clearly the plan du jour; which is to say create the conditions by which Iran either attacks or is blamed for an attack on US forces.

Either way, once the necessary condition is met, it's going to be a full-out "shock and awe" campaign.

This will end in blood and tears.
