may include the following Proposals/Propositions tacked on as a trade-off:

    1. Redistricting a la Arnie.
    1. Relaxing Term Limits.
    1. Anti-Rent Control Proposition
    1. Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment

I don't see this as a fair trade or good deal nor do I see why the Democratic Party needs to bargin with Arnie over this. Arnie has his own benefits/Agenda for having an early Primary for his own Party. There is no need to give Arnie more ground even if it is agreed that the Early Primary is a good idea.

    •  Rent Control? Gay Marriage? (0+ / 0-)

That's the first I've heard of these as bargaining chips.

As for redistricting and relaxing term limits, I'm for 'em. Term limits has done nothing but entrench lobbyists in Sacramento and saddle us with inexperienced legislators who become dependent on those lobbyists.

Arnold's most recent redistricting plan, while not perfect, is far better than the one he tried to force through as an initiative. If that's the starting point, I think we can have a good consensus bill.

But you're right - if Rent Control or Gay Marriage is stuffed into the mix, it's DOA.

get on line with Non-Partisan Redistricting, I'm not for CA giving up its Democratic edge. I am okay with relaxing term linits given the problems it has engendered.
Here's some more info about the possible tie-ins to Arnie's proposal:
