    cookiebear, TexasLefty, pioneer111 the world changes, ripples of newness are sent through the language.  Insisting on using old language to express new concepts can inhibit progress.  So sometimes words have changed their meaning and single ideas have decomposed into multiplicities of possibilities.  Being open to the new is the essence of learning. :-)

      My psychic pain is caused less by the evolution of language than by the total disregard for adherence to the absolute basics of proper usage.

      When news anchors, pundits, and other cable time fillers perpetuate improper usage, the illiteracy just multiplies.

      I know I sound like a pedantic twit, but I can't help it.  

      The Democratic Party stands for equality for ALL, freedom with responsibility, and a civil and just society.
