giving Marchand the go, I'd love to hear it.  I haven't heard that, and she remains the wild card so far.

Both Marchand and Hirshberg I believe would be strong challengers and capable of toppling Running Johnny.

Marchand said his choice was made easier after he received information that neither Gov. John Lynch nor former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen were interested in taking on Sununu next year. His decision was also bolstered by a statement made recently by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that Democrats intended to target the New Hampshire Senate race, along with two others, in 2008.

I guess my statement implying they have endorsed him might have gone to far, but it seems to me both Shaheen and Lynch are out.

I've seen that before, and while Lynch has been fairly definitive elsewhere, Shaheen, or her husband, has admitted that she's looking at the possibility.

But I agree with you that it's likely that both are not running.

I did also read somewhere that Marchand and Swett would drop out if Shaheen decided to run.
