    except that sometimes people run their campaigns as if they're really after a VP slot.  For example, I felt that Edwards went easy on Kerry numerous times in 04, and I wasn't surprised a bit when Kerry chose him for VP.  

    In that situation it's not a level playing field when you've got solo people and tag-teamers.  I'm not saying Clark is there at all, just speaking in general.

    I earned capital in the campaign - political capital - and now I intend to spend it.

      backed in the 2004 primaries. I wouldn't be surprised if she picked him.

        Of course they might have been backing him on the assumption that he wouldn't win, given that he would now be looking at reelection in that event and Hillary wouldn't.
