probably generates more hits for most blogs than being listed on any blogroll. Whore your blog in an open thread (as I do, although I also post TV Alerts as a service).

Kind of lost in the whole controversy over blogrolls is that there are many things anyone can do to promote their blog that would probably get more hits than being on Kos' blogroll.

See, I've been wondering how much cross posting just ends up encouraging people not to actually go over to the other blog, if they can get a lot of the same content right here. I know if something is crossposted, I tend to comment on it here rather than moving the discussion over to the other blog -- but maybe that's just me.

I suppose it does provide at least a little publicity so people know the blog exists...

The one and only time I clicked through to The Next Hurrah I looked at their contributors list and the most recent postings and thought what's the point, I can get all that on Dkos (might not be right or fair but that is what I thought).

I liked kos's blog roll because I was too lazy to add a lot of things to my favorites. But, I also discovered a lot more blogs through that blogroll than I have from clicking on people's sig line links.

I guess I'll have to use Digby's and Greenwald's blogrolls for now.

          has a good blogroll, too.

What's funny is that I only discovered dkos through somebody else's blogroll -- I think it was Tom Tomorrow's.

I don't remember how or why but one day I discovered The Daily Howler (about three years ago). I read it religiously for months. I was amazed at the depth of coverage of the MSM and I didn't understand why I hadn't heard more of what I was reading. I really did not know about political blogs, and I had no idea I was reading one.

Then one day I followed one of his links to Atrios and that's when I discovered I wasn't the only person who thought about things the way I did (Since DH has no blogroll or comments it can feel very secluded if you are not aware of what else is out there).

I found Dkos from Atrios's blogroll.

I think there is irony in there somewhere.

The Daily Howler is a mandatory read for anyone who cares about how the "liberal" media aids and abets the right-wing machine,  consistenly advancing their themes and spreading their fake stories.

If it weren't for the Howler, I surely would have slit my throat during the 2000 election.

Plus, he is really sticking it to Chris Matthews these days, calling him out on his perverse obsession with the Clintons and Bill's b.j.

        •  What if you split the content? (0+ / 0-)

The teaser gets put in a DKos diary, but the entire post is on the person's blog?  Does that encourage click-through, and drive traffic to the blog?

          Too pissy?  Thoughts?

obviously I would follow a link to anything I found interesting.

But I think your suggestion might be in violation of Dkos diary rules. I could be wrong though as I'm not much of a policeman.
