  •  I wonder about this "way to rebel" excuse... (1+ / 0-)

On 60 minutes Barak claimed his youthfully indescrete drug use was "typical of a teenager who was confused about who he was, and what his place in the world was... and thought that experimenting e=with drugs was a way to rebel. It's not something that I'm proud of.

He seems to be airbrushing his life, even as he decries airbrushing as disingenuous. How about -- I was bored, and doing drugs was fun. Would it be so awful to cop to that? What does his experience tell us about what he will do with respect to the so-called drug war? Does he have to play politics here, even if he seems to denegrate political posturing? Looks like he does, but I would rather hear what he thinks about this fiasco of a scam against the American, and indeed the whole world's people.

    Change is inevitable, embrace it.

....I think that Obama's position on drugs can give him the breathing room to take a sane position on the War on Drugs.

        considerably?'

        How about he WAS honest.

Bill? Nope. George? I think we all know the answer to that. He makes Bill's "I didn't inhale" seem honest.

I'm glad Barack admitted it. I dont't think he airbrushed it.

... we now know a lot of things, most of which, we already knew... (-dash888)

    •  That could have been truthful... (0+ / 0-)

I mean, not everybody did drugs for the same reason that you and I did ;)

    •  How is that an excuse? (0+ / 0-)

I'm certainly no Obamaniac, but I don't see how that's an excuse or a cop out.  Drug use is frequently a stupid way of rebelling and trying to fit in with the world around you.  He didn't deny doing it, he explained the reason he thinks he did it and said he wasn't proud of it.  How is that an excuse?  To me its an honest explanation.

    •  Why would you doubt him? (0+ / 0-)

Why say he is airbrushing his past, he has said what he did and why he did it.  Maybe other people do/did drugs for different reasons, but it seems to me you're inserting your own opinions here.  Surely you can accept that people do/did things for more than "fun"?  It seems to me you're placing your own reasons over his experience.
