The Republicans were at one point threatening to unilaterally change Senate rules to force votes on judges.  I'm not enough of a parliamentarian to understand the argument, but would it be possible for Democrats to threaten the same thing?

That's not so say they should actually do it, at least with a whole lot of thought, but could they make noises to that effect?

    •  I believe they could. Maybe a good idea, too. (0+ / 0-)

Yes, Dem's could lobby some missiles of their own back into the Rethug camp.  But why shouldn't they do it?  Rep's threatened it last year over an issue not nearly as important as this.  If they're threatening to change the rules, again, then fire back at them with our own threats.  Rethug's are creating gridlock on war issues, anyway, so it's not like we'd risk losing the ability for progress.  Dem's have to get savvy, here, and real fast.  Maybe Reid has a strategy that I'm just not seeing but, so far, I'm very disappointed.  Rethug's block him and he whines that it's not fair of them.  We have to play better politics than that.
