Anybody in support of this war surely believes it will save lives (except perhaps the President).  So clearly Joe was showing up in order to save lives

If the POTUS doesn't believe it will save lives then why should everyone else?  Many supporters mearly believe it will make them wealthier.  The idea that less lives will be lost in fighting this war than will be lost if we stop this war is unproven.  Certainly, lives will be lost either way but the numbers can not be known.  Stronger Homeland Security measures (see the 9/11 Commission's recommendations) could well keep those lives safe.  Joe was showing up to save Jewish lives.  That's a great motive, for Israel's Government, but not for The U.S.'s.  If Joe wants to be politically active to secure Israel's interests he should move to Tel-Aviv.

has consumed your ability to think in a non-bigoted manner. Yep, Lieberman the evil Jew, stabbing America in the back, he should go back to Israel.

I don't think that even the most Republican hack bloggers would write that Specter should "move to Tel Aviv" because he voted for debate. Come to think of it, did any hack blogger tell Catholic Senators against the Iraq War to "move to the Vatican" because Pope John Paul II was against the war as well? It would be howlingly funny on dKos, if some right-winger ranted on Edward Kennedy for taking orders from the Pope on his vote on Iraq, wouldn't it?

      •  Plenty of people told Ed, and us, where to move. (0+ / 0-)

Not bloggers (I didn't blog then but doubt it would have been seen on DKos) but the general population sure told us nay-sayers where to go.  The thread is about Lie-berman and where his loyalties are.  I was simply pointing out that those loyalties are to a country, not his State, that he doesn't represent.  If he wants to represent them, fine.  But, he needs to go where that is appropriate.
Our debate was about a war affecting our nation.  Sen. Kennedy, and other Catholic Senators, was arguing in our national interest.  Not that of the Vatican.  He was representing US.
I do not feel my statement was hate driven, even though I do hate Lie-berman, so much as factual.  Further, one sentence is hardly "ranting".
You may disagree, and that's fine, but refrain from name calling (as you did with BTD) when doing so.

        •  Name calling? (0+ / 0-)

Where did I call BTD a name?

Where am I calling you a name?

          •  You ranted on BTD in Feb.13th Diary and... (0+ / 0-)

called me a "hack blogger".  Twice.  You also said that I'm bigoted when I was mearly calling into question whom Lie-berman is representing.  That's a fair question and not a bigoted remark.  And what's this mean?

It would be howlingly funny on dKos, if some right-winger ranted on Edward Kennedy for taking orders from the Pope on his vote on Iraq...

This is a left-wing blog and I was taking a left-wing position on this pathetic, horrible, treasonous Senator.

I am taking a left-wing position on living in a pluralistic society. I disagree with Lieberman as everyone else does here, but I hold my principles higher. And these include never claiming that a fellow American is placing the interests of another country above his/her own qua ethnic, racial or religious background. Show me documents, show me proof that Lieberman is placing Israel above his own country, and I would retract my statement that your claim is steeped in bigotry.

Come on, the left is better than this.

            •  No, I was referring to "right-wing hack bloggers" (0+ / 0-)

And that is not a "rant" against BTD, but rather an attempt to show that his analysis is wrong.
