      That's the warmest time, but of course also the height of tourist season. The fall is really, really nice too, so I wouldn't discount the first two weeks of September. Very mild and inviting.

      4 or 5 star hotel? Well,I'm an impoverished academic, so my personal experience is limited. There are numerous resorts around Cavendish and other spots in the Island (PEI is a sort fo golfer's paradise), and I've heard good things about Crowbush:

      There's a Delta in Charlottetown that's pretty swank as well. But I'm more of a B&B/campground kind of traveller, so don;t take my word for it.

      The nice thing is that the island is small, so you can make your homebase in, say Charlottetown or another resort and still be able to drive to most of the attractions you would want to see.
