  •  Is it just me, or are (5+ / 0-)

we making decisions based entirely on the past instead of the current landscape?

If you're looking for purity or the unblemished candidate I have a nugget of news for you -- they don't exist. They never did.

This is politics. It's ugly. It's full of lies, distortions, stupidity, hypocrisy, and brilliance. Its arena is the gutter. Always has been.

I'm one of the undecideds who really wishes we had three more governors running because this Senate-heavy field sucks for just the reasons you have been attacking it.

But I'm a realist. They are politicians, not choirboys and Girl Scouts. So yes, I will be forced to chose the lesser of X evils. Just like I do in every single fucking primary.

Frankly, regardless of who wins the primary, I hope to hell they have someone willing to fling the mud on staff. They'll be fucked otherwise. Clinton and Obama seem to get that.  As much as the public claims they don't like dirty politics, on the whole they are so full of self-delusional shit it's not funny. Most eat up a dirty scandal. Anna Nicole anyone?

There is no taking the high road here.  Low roads with smoke and mirrors everywhere. There are no high roads in politics.

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, fanatical, criminal. - Supertramp, "The Logical Song"

    •  I didn't get that Kos has a problem with Obama's (0+ / 0-)

response.  It seems to me he is objecting to hiring these inside the beltway mudslingers.  Why support these buttheads there are others who can be just as effective.

but Gibbs has been very effective.  His rapid response to all the Obama attacks are in the same news cycle and usually brilliant turned around to make the other party look like an idiot.

      •  I suppose I'll just need a list of the (0+ / 0-)

others and proof they would be just as effective. ;)

Gibb has been rather effective against the Wolfson/lie/smear/political misstep. What he did a long ago in a political arena far, far away truly does not interest me. What he's doing today does interest me.

If we're going to demand candidates play musical chairs with their staff every time we find something noxious about the staffer's past then I wonder if they'll ever be able to settle in for the run.

No one is clean in politics (at least if they are any good) for the reasons I've cited. I love Dean, that ad was below the belt, but for me this is a non-issue on this particular political playing field.

I'm content to let others demand staffer purity (Edwards), I'm more interested in the issues.
