  •  Take a hard look at Giuliani's business deals (6+ / 0-)

The current websites of Giuliani Partners and Giuliani Capital Partners are amazingly opaque, providing few clues to exact nature of the services provided by Giuliani et al.  (Apparently, Giuliani Partners scrubbed a lot of information that previously appeared on the site.)

Unlike most small firms that develop a specialty, Giulani's companies are all over the place.  This seems like a poor business strategy, but as a strategy for building poltical power, it sings.

Does this make you think of Cheney and his secretive relationships with corporate executives?

Giuliani Partners is the thing that sticks out for me. Why the hell would I hire Rudy Giuliani as a 'security consultant'? What's the point of the whole enterprise, aside from cashing in on Homeland Security boondoggles?

I suspect that the only other reason Giuliani Partners exists is that it gave Rudy something respectable-looking to do where he could collect checks and bide his time before entering the Presidential race. Starting a consulting business between political gigs is a convenient way for supporters to give you cash without running into all of that pesky campaign finance law. You have to admire his ambition though; he started his own business.

Usually, well-connected GOP political aspirants just have some pals in a big law firm or investment group set them up with a do-nothing job so that they can have an income while they keep politicking.
