When you get right down to it, it's really all Willard has to offer. His hair, and...uh, ONE term as a failed governor in a state where he is positively despised, to the point where his legacy pretty much singlehandedly put an end to 16 years of Republican control of the governor's office.

Joe Lieberman likes to be called an "Independent Democrat". I like being called a "sexual dynamo".

And just wait until the GOP's fundamentalist base finds out that Romney isn't going to Heaven after he dies, but to the planet Kolob:

I assure you, once John and Joann Republican find out about Kolob, heads will explode.

In fact, I'm sure that the McCain and Giuliani camps already have secret dossiers put together full of White Salamanders, Planets Kolob and Books of Abraham, "which the LDS Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. claims to have translated from a set of Egyptian scrolls that accompanied a traveling mummy exhibition, which passed through Smith's town of Kirtland, Ohio in 1835."

The symbolic language of Mormonism is not, of course, any more bizarre than that of more familiar strands of Christianity, but it will seem very foreign to your average Republican voter.

        Mitt has pretty hair!!!!!

Is there ANY electable Republican? Is there any Republican whose nomination isn't going to have the religious right staying home? Oh wait, there's that terrific Brownback/Tancredo ticket I'm praying for. The religious right would wet itself over that. About that electability thing though.....not so much. LOL.

Hell, even the local Fox news channel loathes him.

The hair and teeth combination makes him the best "looking" candidate the GOP has to offer this time around. The fact that he panders well and has gotten good at flip flopping/sucking up adds to his right wing appeal. In GOP circles that's called bipartisanship or being "open" to other ideas. Those Max Headroom/Anchor looks are perfect for photo ops.

So good, we're taking back the White House in 2008, not a moment too soon, hopefully not too late.
