  •  We have a diesel ambulance at work (2+ / 0-)

which has been converted to WVO, to act as a flashy (har) workmobile. It's surprisingly anticlimatic when it sounds and feels just the same to switch to WVO from diesel, but it feels good nonetheless.

I'm a Subaru geek, and I'm brainstorming ways to swap a VW TDI into my lifted '86 wagon so I can have my favorite car and drive it guilt-free, but that's a little way out. Subaru is also producing a TDI engine in Europe next year...

    Good luck with your car!

as soon as I put the biodiesel in the car, it ran more quietly and seemed smoother.  The difference in the noise was really noticeable.  They say that biodiesel is better for the engine than petro diesel, and lubricates it better.

The exhaust smells WAY better, too, as I'm sure you've noticed!  The petro-diesel exhaust is just NASTY (and indeed is quite poisonous) but the biodiesel exhaust smells right now like frying fish.
