    You guys are really making me feel like a stick in the mud, but, here’s the what I think you must know:

    In 1986, Safeway was bought by Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts, the leveraged buyout firm. Burd was KKR’s boy assigned to run Safeway.

    This is the same Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts that so many Kossacks were praising just a few days ago, for KKR’s role in buying the largest electricity producer in Texas, TXU, with the promise of NOT building coal-fired power plants.

    I’m telling you, folks, KKR are NOT people you want to get in bed with.

    KKR reduced its stake in Safeway in the late 1990, bit still held over ten percent of the shares. I’m not sure if KKR still owns part of Safeway, or how large KKR's holdings are now.

    A conservative is a scab for the oligarchy.
