    It does not even attempt to describe the process of how young journalists entering a career in sincereity are soon putting out utter crap, lies and propaganda and apparently feeling good about themselves.

    It is human nature to rationalize one's behavior. If you are a journalist who wants to get ahead, do you tell yourself you are a whore by only putting out what is acceptable within your boss' ideological framework? Or do you internalize that ideological framework so you can feel good about yourself. Most people pick the latter. Internalization of values is cited in Manufacturing Consent. I don't remember if it is explained in detail, but I have heard Chomsky explain it elsewhere.
