      is only translatable as "Party of God". "Army of God" would be "Jaish Allah". As far as I know, there is no "Jaish Allah".

        But the word "Hezb" that is commonly used to mean "Political Party" I believe was archaically used simply to mean "Side" as in "which Side are you on?"

        And that the name for the organization was taken from Koran scripture, so I tend to think of it as having a dual purpose, which is what we see in practice.

        Whether they are a Political Organization with a Military Wing or a Military organization with a Political Wing really makes no difference to me.
