    Johanna: (looks around smiling brightly)

Am I really now among my folk
And am no more rejected and despised?
They curse me not, they kindly look upon me?
--Yes, now I recognize all clearly once again!
That is my Monarch! That is France's banner!
Yet mine own banner see I not--Where is it?
Without my banner dare I not to come:
It was entrusted to me by my Master,
Before His throne I must needs lay it down--
I may display it, for I bore it true.

King: (with face turned away) Give her
    the banner!|...

Johanna: Do you behold the rainbow in the air?
The Heaven opens up its golden gates:
I' th' choir of angels stands she gleaming there,
She holds th' eternal Son upon her breast,
Her arms she smiling stretches out to me.
What comes o'er me--Light clouds are lifting me--
The heavy armor doth to winged garments turn.
    Upward--upward--The earth doth backward flee--
Brief is the pain, the joy shall be eterne!

Johanna von Orleans [Die Jungfrau von Orleans]
    Act V, Scene XIV
    Friedrich Schiller

      We hold these truths

the dove, who landed a bit to the right, just above the stage, where our band was playing.

When poets must man the barricades, and there is no one else to get it started, how are we to decide if our conquest is to be visible here, or only in that joy eternal?

Beautiful translation -- one of those sadnesses, that I'll never be literate enough in other languages to appreciate all that is in the original.

If a thousand men were not to pay their tax bills this year, that would not be a violent and bloody measure, as it would be to pay them, and enable the State...

      •  Thank you (0+ / 0-)

for that link to Victor Jara (whom I had never heard about). Is it irrelevant coincidence that the same names are deeply involved with today's destruction of the USA that were deeply involved with the coup in Chile that tortured and murdered Senor Jara and so many many others and looted their country? -- George P. Shultz [look who his fucking father was], who put in Bush and Cheney, and laid foundation for undermining development in 3rd world/stability of international currencies, Azores 1972 -- Felix Rohatyn, who as a mega-banker, is the first-chosen protege of Andre Meyer who ran Lazard Freres Bank financing Hitler, who now is orchestrating the disintegration of the USA's most important industrial capacities while promoting private mercenary armies as US policy? I could go on.

THE SAME MOTHERFUCKING FASCIST people! THE SAME who are responsible for the murder of musicmaker Victor Jara a day after their fascist puppet took over Chile!

As to your question: as I understand it it is not given to us to decide; rather it is a principle we discover.

May the rainbow and the dove always bless your music.

in one brain that is more remarkable, or the fact that there actually are so few of them creating all this mayhem for the billions of us all?

Anyway, that should be our hint that it might be easier than we fear to turn them all out, and have them digging the forensic trenches to uncover the evidence of the crimes they've committed.
