He looks like a follower not a leader.  Very disappointing.  The "will make a decision sometime next week" response was about as indecisive and mealy-mouthed as one can get.  Way to step up and be a leader!

Best thing he could do now is go out and pick a public fight with Roger Ailes and FoxNews and denounce the comments as inappropriate for even political partisans like Roger Ailes and FoxNews.

I think he paved the way to show that you don't need FUX to win unless you're a Republic.

I'm not participating in your little debate?"  Why was he so afraid to do that.  I still haven't heard one good explanation for why he ceded leadership on this to Edwards.

        •  Didn't Edwards cite a scheduling problem (0+ / 0-)

rather than telling FUX to FUX itself?

          •  No. Not true. (0+ / 0-)

Edwards said he would not be going.

He acted by choosing not to appear.  Talk is cheap.

Looking ack on it, it was a carefully worded and non-confrontational "no."

There's no need to read anything else into it, and cast any insult on Obama for not doing more. Obama and Edwards know how to be careful, but because we don't have to be, there's no need to make shit up.

"We will not be participating in the Fox debate," said Jonathan Prince, Edwards’ deputy campaign manager, told The Daily Kos.

"We're going to make lots of appearances in Nevada, including debates," he said. "By the end of March, we will have attended three presidential forums in Nevada - and there are already at least three proposed Nevada debates. We're definitely going to debate in Nevada, but we don't see why this needs to be one of them."

You can try to explain it away or say Edwards failed to throw an F-Bomb, but the bottom line was that Obama did nothing when he should have led.

I saw this in Obama in January and it is one reason why I chose Edwards over Obama.  Obama is not a leader yet.

can a US Senator, former State Senator, former community organizer, former head of the Harvard Law Review, etc... overcome not turning down a debate in enough time?  my gosh, i should think not.  i wish i could get my donation back, since he's going to drop out.  in fact, the republicans didn't turn it down either - i think they're out of the race for 2008.  wow.  way to go edwards (and does richardson get the VP slot since he followed up?).  behold president edwards - 2008!

    •  i don't think there's that much to recover from. (0+ / 0-)

this is a victory for bloggers and for truth.  as far as issues go, though, i think this is a relatively small deal.  i mean, this is not the kind of thing that makes or breaks a candidacy.  anyone who would not vote for a candidate over this was not going to support that candidate anyway.

if an issue like this were the dirt on obama, he'd be a shoe-in for the presidency.

Obama could ill afford to take the lead on this since he skipped out on the candidate "forum," and thus might've looked afraid of a real debate...  And of course, he froze out Fox already.

But mad props to Edwards for this.
