Unless Congress suffers another one of it's many and common spinal meltdowns, which is a real possibility, Congress will vote to subpoena Rove this week.

In response, Bush will say NO. Not "No because ..." and not "No unless ...."  but just "No".

And if I were Bush I would do exactly the same thing. Here is why:

There is a very good chance that Congress will take the easy way out. Congress will toss the matter into the GOP controlled courts where it will languish in a manner similar to the request for Cheney's energy papers. When the matter is finally resolved, Bush will be out of office, the "old news" claim will have some validity and Congress can thump its chest and tell us about how it showed the big bad Bush who was boss.

Nixon's third article of impeachment dealt with ignoring subpoenas. If Congress doesn't rise to this level of resolve, Bush will simply CONTINUE to crap on them.

Congress needs to learn that the GOP are not 'nice' people who play by the rules. Until it does, the GOP will CONTINUE to thumb its nose at any attempt 'Congressional Oversight'.

    •  EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT ARTICLE 3!! (1+ / 0-)

Waxman, Schumer, etc. - they ALL need to remember that failing to respond to lawful subpoena is an impeachable offense - and they need to have copies of the Nixon articles of impeachment to wave in the faces of their Republican colleagues!

      •  Bush's Wiretapping is an impeachable offense (0+ / 0-)

        But so what?

Congress isn't going to impeach Bush over it and Bush isn't going to impeach himself.

I suppose knowing that you are right can give some people a nice warm fuzzy feeling, but beyond that being right isn't worth a whit if you can't or won't back up your position.
