  •  I like this scandal. (12+ / 0-)

I don't know if it's the timing, or the way, like a box of tissues, each revelation neatly pulls up the one behind it, but it seems to be blossoming rather nicely from an itch in the minds of a few disgruntled bloggers to a full-blown media circus. Maybe it's that the issue is on the one hand less arcane than such disappointing classics as Downing Street Memo, and on the other hand less emotionally and viscerally charged than Katrina, Guantanamo, or any of the thousand and one other crimes that ought to have stirred a complacent press and populace to demand accountability. This is a nice genteel scandal -- all words and emails and phone calls -- no blood and mud and screams to banish it from our TV screens. It has all the earmarks of a keeper, from its humble beginnings as the suspicious firings of some obscure US attorneys, to its promising and historic confrontation between two branches of government. Could this be the one we've all been waiting for, the single thread that when you pull on it unravels the whole sorry pretense?
