  •  and here's the sweet spot (0+ / 0-)

if Bu$hCo chooses to ignore an impeachment (of Gonzo), they'd severely run far afoul of the Constitution ... that'd put Dubya's ass on the line immediately ...

but i'm thinking Gonzo'll likely get fired, and the WH will continue to take the air out of the ball ... just wondering if they can establish a sufficient revolving door for the top DOJ gig ...

for Bush to ignore the impeachment process.

The House holds the hearings re: Impeachment -- like a probable cause hearing for an indictment.  No one shows up.  O.k.  The House has enough documentary evidence to Impeach.  The Senate begins the prosecution of the Impeachment -- nobody shows up -- guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  Done, over, that's it.

        1. House/Senate issue subpoenae
        1. Bu$hCo ignores
        1. Contempt of Congress citation referred to DOJ
        1. DOJ ignores
        1. House begins/continues hearings process, with Articles prepared ...
        1. USAG (Gonzo) steps down ...

        rinse and repeat (3-6) ...

how long can they play 4-corners?

they continue even if the Official quits.  It is simple.

          •  true: not entirely moot (0+ / 0-)

impeachment proceedings could conceivably continue, but the net effect would only be to disqualify that person from future government employment ...

but it's most likely that any impeachment against Gonzo would halt upon his resignation, and those particular articles would have no bearing on others
