    I'm not Defazio's constituent, but I worry. He is in a fairly repub district

      No, he's in a sane district...get someone with his values, his ethics...his political views..
      and they will be a shoe in...get a DLC Democrat or a cheap labor Democrat...you're right, they will lose the seat.

      We love DeFazio because he's plain honest, level headed and damn good...he also doesn't back down!

      Its PVI is D+0. That makes it Oregon's 2nd most conservative district (out of 5). But it's historically Democratic though; back when De Fazio was elected (1986) and even through most of the 90s, it was probably Oregon's 2nd most liberal district... it's a question of Portland's suburbs trending blue, while the rural parts of the 4th are trending red. Eugene is still the focal point of the district, so I'd expect it would still be able to return another Dem to the House (Pete Sorenson comes to mind). But it wouldn't be a cakewalk.
