since I'm dim and tired I'd like an abstract with action link next to talking points.

I often think of you, dear OC115.....I was staring at my plate the other night thinking you'd like what was on it (veggies).

P.S. Why are you working in a bakery when you could/should be 'ruling the world'?

well, I've seen you post this comment on at least three or four (maybe more, it's late and I'm getting tired myself) diaries in the last couple of days, so I've got a request/suggestion of my own. If one person is making the effort of asking for it, many people are thinking it.

Maybe you should put together a talking points & action links diary of your own? That might be more productive than relying on others to provide what you're looking for.

Sometimes I do put links and talking points in comments after diaries that need them--especially if I already know/understand the topic......., but, alas, I'm disabled with limited energy/endurance............and really DO need all the help I can get.

Other people probably have time constraints more than physical/mental constraints, but executive summary/abstract plus action links and talking points will help everybody.

I'm trying to start a new 'tradition' here, whereby we all make it easier, quicker for all.

and one that I'm sure many people could eaily add to their diaries. It might be easier if more people were aware of the project though, and this could be accomplished by 'pitching your idea' so-to speak in a diary of your own.

Alternatively, you might want to post it as a general suggestion/pitch as a comment in one of Elise's Sunday Action diaries. People who frequent that series, it seems to me, would be very receptive to your idea. Once a few people start rolling with it, it might catch on easier.

Hope you don't mind the few suggestions I've made, as I think your idea of adding action links/summaries to diaries is a great one.

My only concern (seriously, it's not a criticism, but a genuine concern) is with the 'talking points' focus. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I would feel a little intimidated if I thought I was expected to "frame" an issue and produce media-ready 'talking points' if I ever wanted to post a diary. Because, let's face it, there are some framing and talking points experts around here... and I just wouldn't compare. To me, 'suggested conversation starters' or something like it, might be a little less intimidating.

I mean like call your senators and ask them to vote yes on bill x because of reasons a,b,c.....

Or please write letters to editors about Bush Administration's impeachable offenses including [LIST].

    •  thanks, I did that specifically for you once (0+ / 0-)

I think this isnt the first time you've made the request. I try to say upfront what the diary is about, specifically, and then give headers so you can skim and pick out basically what it's about without totally reading it. In the case of this diary, I didn't fully know what it was going to be about until I wrote it since I had about 2-3 other news stories I considered including but then didn't.

    •  oh, re: the bakery (0+ / 0-)

It's my first job in 6 mos, since I left my last job. And it's a big combo of factors. For one thing, I don't want anything too permanent bc I've got a good healthcare job lined up that I can start in a few mos. The reason I cant start now is the damn non-compete contract I'm under until Sep 07. But also, the thought of working in the conditions I left quite honestly makes me want to vomit. If I stick it out until I get the healthcare job I want, I already know (and love) the people I'll be working with (they used to be my customers) and after my traumatic last few mos in my old job, that's very comforting. Last, it's my migraines. I'm honestly too afraid to go for interviews at most places bc I'm afraid of getting a migraine there. It's SUCH a pain to have to explain about the headaches to new employers. At least the people that I hope to work for once the non-compete period ends already know my limitations and they are accustomed to dealing with it.
