word games and is entirely devoid of citations to authorities supporting its claims?

The UN, the EU, and US, and Russia, joined, according to Jordan's King Abdullah, by a "broad Arab agreement," both

    • insist that the PA government recognize Israel; and

    • are fully aware of the various facts that the diarist adduces to rationalize why it cannot be done.

Obviously, recognition of Israel by the PA will not have the same juridical effect as recognition by the State of Palestine (when it comes into existence). But that does not render the PA totally powerless.

Ha'aretz reports that 48% of Palestinians want the new unity government "accept the world's conditions for acceptance, including recognition of Israel." It's time to stop making excuses for its failure to do so.

I'm curious as to your authority (i.e., some international treaty or statute) for those two requirements, but it really doesn't matter.

similarly, you don't really care what authorities i have on my desk to show the prove of my argument. you could give two-shits about the law, and, in diaries when i have supplied complete citations, the other side simply discounts them and/or ignores them based on their own twisted logic.

i'll give you the same reply i gave your friend, since you aren't even worth the effort to re-keystroke a unique answer...

your apathy for relevant international understandings of the term your side parrots ad infinitum is consistent with israel's arrogance and its treating international law as irrelevant.

that is why i added the 'note' to my diary, anticipating that the other side of this dispute really doesn't care one way or the other....you proved my point.  thanks?

until palestine is a state, and until israel has defined its borders, it is a simple exercise in futility to appease israel with meaningless words, and, israel knows it!

You don't know what I think about you or the lack of supporting authority for your diary, apart from what I've said. And what I've said, without dispute so far from you, is that you're playing a word game.

Obvious, because the State of Palestine does not exist it cannot recognize Israel in the way that, say, the United States and Canada recognize each other.

From this tautology, it follows either that

        • the UN, the EU, the US, and Russia are all too stupid to realize share your brilliant insight and are imposing a meaningless condition on the Palestinian Authority; or

        • they are using the word "recognize," in relation to the Palestinian Authority, in a different way than you apparently want them to use it.

But that's your problem, not their's. Call it "applesauce," if you prefer. The fact remains that the PA can give Israel "applesauce" in the way the Quarter require, if only it chooses to do so.

    •  If Israel would merely STOP BUILDING SETTLEMENTS (3+ / 0-)

it would go a long, long way to making a responsible Palestinian government possible.

Costs nothing to do it--why hasn't Israel stopped building settlements?
