Thank you, Turkana - thank you so much.

On an earlier diary I posted the text below, because I am truly concerned for all cancer patients, including some near and dear. But you've taken this conversation in a direction that it really, really needs to go.

    For all cancer patients

Prayers for my friend R., who is fighting what may be her final battle this week against breast cancer that has metastasized throughout her body. Just a few weeks ago she was leading a children's choir - 5 days after having a malignant tumor removed from her brain. I have never, never seen courage like hers. Prayers for her husband and children.

Prayers for my beloved friend S., in the UK, who is dealing with a milder but still dangerous breast cancer and who is currently writing her 4th book in 2 years (she began the first, a young adult novel, as soon as she got the initial diagnosis - it's now been published and is being very well received). Prayers for her husband and her sisters.

Prayers for Elizabeth Edwards and her family.

Prayers for Tony Snow and his family.

Prayers for stationwagon, Dreaming of Better Days, and others here at DKos who are dealing with cancer, or who have family members with the disease. Special thanks to Carnacki, for keeping the need for better policy, research and treatment in all our minds.

All of these people are dealing with various degrees of pain and danger and sorrow. I wish them all courage and healing - and, when it is time, the ability to go gently into that good night (I disagree w/ Dylan Thomas on that one).

Thank you, Miss Blue, for this diary. I hope someone let the Snow family know that many here are terribly sorry for what they are going through.

i have one friend who just survived a bone marrow transplant that had her on the borderline for months. i also just found out my wife's special aunt has a metastasized cancer. everything else diminishes in importance when you, or someone close to you, has such a direct confrontation with mortality.
