  •  Veterinarians do much of the (7+ / 0-)

Public health work and food inspection all over the country.  If you think about it it makes a certain amount of sense; much food is animal in origin, and many of the diseases that occur from food and food handling occur from animal vectors-insects, rats primarily.  Further, one gets basic medical practices in tech school, so you get a rudimentary knowledge of the physiological effects of food related illnesses.

Center for Disease Control (CDC) is heavily infested with veterinarians.

It was a great job, but it sucked being in the Farce.

    •  Ah, thanks for the explanation (0+ / 0-)

That's what I get for failing my pre-induction physical in 1969 (near-sighted, thank god). And the only thing I know about veterinarians is that thanks to my cat, my vet was able to build a huge new office.
