Her travel writing is supposed to be great, but her trans stuff is a little middle class for me, in a way that just creeps me utterly and makes me throw books.  Hard.  Long distances.  Though know many who have enjoyed her work.

"transitioning" [God, I hate that word!].  I have read many books by Morris.  I especially enjoyed the book about traveling from Rome to Brindisi, then south, along the "sole" of Italy, through the perfectly preserved Greek ruins, to Sicily, all the way back to Rome.  This was in the 1930s, as I recall.  I've always wanted to recreate that journey, which I figure really took about 3 years on and off, given the detail and presence at so many historic festivals.  I'm afraid I would be disappointed due to modernization, though.
