  •  Hank Gilbert really impressed me (6+ / 0-)

at the 2006 state party convention.  I don't pretend to have a strong handle on Texas politics these days--a 2-yr-old and work leave me only a limited time to keep up--but Gilbert seemed at least on the surface the type of candidate folks found in Tester: a potential Ag Commissioner who actually knows something about what it means to be a farmer or rancher, and someone who is a true straight talker.  In short, not a career politician, but someone who is actually like many an average voter in the state.

I saw him a couple of times, and he really can get a crowd excited. And he's real. That's not designer mud on his boots.

And staying involved, is good, too. I saw him on the news with the Trans Texas Corridor folks when they had their march. That was cool.

    •  You must be easily impressed (0+ / 0-)

If we are ever going to take back Texas from the Republicans, we have GOT to field sharp, intelligent candidates.  No more crazy wierdos, please!
