OCD, your diary makes me miss my dad tonight.  Bless you for feeling and expressing all these things; it's like spotting land after so long at sea--and it's verdant, mountainous, rainbow-prone.

My mom and dad married and divorced each other twice before I was eleven.  My dad was career military so he spent much of my childhood stationed out of the country. When I was 15, he came home for good, with a new wife and a baby (and a voice half an octave higher from speaking Mandarin).  He was very autocratic and judgmental; nothing my sisters and I ever did was good enough.

After many years of unease, we finally found a common purpose--in gardening, of all things.  By the time Dad died in 2003, we were the dearest of friends.  While I wish my dad could have been as in touch with his feelingas when I was a teen as you seem to be now, our eventual happiness with one another has made all the difference to me in mid-life.

Oh, all the memories you're going to make from now on!
