    50 million dollar question.

    The vast majority of this money will be completely wasted on expensive consultants meeting in expensive offices having catered lunches for "working meetings".

    You don't need anywhere near this much money to be competitive in Iowa and NH - and those are the only states that matter.

        The dynamics of the whole thing could be quite different this time.

        If all the states considering it do move their primaries up, some 2/3 of all (pledged) delegates will be determined within a little over the first 3 weeks.

        Wiil winning those two early races shut out everybody else on Feb 5? Even if those others have the cash to buy up all sorts of radio and TV time for those weeks before those first two states are even settled?

        I don't know. Like I said, it could be a bit different this time around.
