to figure out how to make it happen, ilyana. there are so many slander and libel laws to consider. however, i don't see any reason why states can't set up databases where a list of those convicted of abuse or just violent behavior can be identified. there are probably websites out there right now with the info, but not readily accessible to the average person. of course, that would mean implementing changes in what is identified as domestic abuse. it should not depend on gender or marital status.
while waiting for that, however, maybe individuals can do something. like i said before, there are sites where you can check to see if someone was a good boyfriend. there are sites where you can check on local businesses to see if they do work as promised and for a good price. if a website like that was set up, a lot of abusers who have never been convicted but are still dangerous would be included. that is where the libel laws will kick in. there are bound to be false accusations once in a while and even true accusations that will boil down to he said/she said. maybe there are attorneys who are still reading the comments here who will have a better answer than i do.

    I didn't get Jack from Abramoff...I'm not a Republican!
