I'm proposing that more attention be placed directly on labor and the environment.  So far only John Edwards and Dennis Kucinich have outlined an agenda for helping restore our middle class.

That is what I am interested in hearing.  How to stop H1B abuse, how to curb offshoring and attract new manufacturing, how to encourage small, localized farming (while lifting subsidies to corporate agribusiness).  A rewrite of NAFTA to include tariffs on countries with no or poor labor and environmental policies.  ect.

One of the biggest drivers to outsourcing/offshoring is the drastic run-up in healthcare costs under the private payer system in the US.  Under the current system, each covered US worker is actually incurring about three times his or her actual healtcare expense to cover service to the uninsured and underinsured.

As to labor, that requires a change in attitude at the top - one that Edwards has the best opportunity to implement.  Put some teeth back into labor practice penalties and make enfocement a priority - say at the expense of hunting for voter fraud cases.
