  •  I have said it before (12+ / 0-)

and I will say it again.

The future of the Democratic Party is in the spirit, the independence, and the confidence of the citizens of the Mountain West.

The area is poised for a reversal of the Sagebrush Rebellion (in party affiliation if not in spirit) and It will be the secret to the resurgent Democratic Majority, with the Republicans becoming merely the regional party of the South.

Good Job on this, Montana Dems.

That is why he fought so hard to have the convention in Denver.

    •  not so fast my friend (5+ / 0-)

it would be a MAJOR mistake to just write-off the south; we are in this FIGHT to the end

      •  I didn't say write off the south (1+ / 0-)

I just said that the south will become the only base the Republicans have left.

The republicans never wrote off the Northeast or California and were regulary able to elect candidates in both areas.

John Tester would have stood a good chance of getting elected in Texas or Georgia or Virginia, with the right organization behind him.

    •  Not if I and several million Democrats (5+ / 0-)

who make our homes in the South have anything to say about it!

Republicans becoming merely the regional party of the South

We're gonna win the South, too. Regressives will be banished to the country clubs, where they can sit on their fat asses and reminisce about the "good ole days" of power and influence.

    •  Don't agree. A lot of Republicans are moving (0+ / 0-)

here and the Mountain West. So what we get is a perfect place for the mushy middle that is still big business friendly to take ahold. There are a lot of folks who are struggling here and who haven't retired having sold their home in California. There are small farms and ranches that need more help than big agribusiness which gets most of the help from government.

We need to compete in every state including the South.  To write off people who are struggling in any region is wrong and is not the old Democratic Party of FDR.  It's the Clintonian Republican lite party. We need a candidate who speaks for those whose time has come to be represented again, those who work hard for a living.
It's time for single payer healthcare and fixing our infrastructure and stopping the outsourcing of our jobs.  The business moderates had a party.  It was called The Republican Party.  Take it back from the right wing whackos and leave the Labor Party alone.
