I say we take a page from Rove and take advantage of the current state of disarray in the crazy fundie fringe and actually make a strong and legitamate offer of programs for the poor, and work with faith based orgs like how dubya said he would in 2k but never did... I just see it as setting off a much more effective strike against the establishment of hate-filled fundyism.  Even if we just confuse them or split them, it will be enough to break the blockade in a lot of the deep south.

of "working with faith-based organizations".  Just as you are legitimately concerned with finding enough libertarians who are not "libtards" to make their inclusion worthwhile, so I am very concerned about finding enough "non-racist" and non "hate-filled" fundies.  Sure, there are some we could probably reach. But dang the negativity goes deep, deep, deep in their evangelical world view.

Maybe my views on this are colored by my status as a gay person.  Religious southerners tend to believe that their duty to god requires that they actively oppress me.  Anti-government libertarians tend to believe that my bedroom is none of anyone else's business.

...we're making a much more statistally significant gain than we would with libertarians.  The concerns you voice are basically the current discussion in a lot of even the ultracrazy fundies as a result of their effective impotence in 2006.  The unhappiness with the national message that they've had pocketed due to happiness with becoming an effective bloc are now being discussed due to the dissolution of the power premiss.

I see this as target #1.  Hit the Right's lies, especially with a candidate with brimstone twang like Edwards (I'm a supporter in spirit, not by paycheck) and we can at the very least break up the false and destructive mantra that all Christians vote Republican.
