    "Drivers License And Registration Please?"

    How is that any different?

I was once involved in one of those stupid ever devolving diaries about second hand smoke that pop up every time people here collectively forget just how stupid these diaries can become.

One of the people in the diary blamed virtually all of the worlds evils on second hand smoke and basically wanted to club all smokers to death (no I don't smoke).

I asked this person how much nitric oxide, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide one General Electric CF700 Turbofan engine released in five minutes relative to how much all smokers released in a year.

The response - 'well we have to fly, that person doesn't have to smoke' - I find your reply pretty much an analog.

I am not advocating for a national ID card here, I could care less one way or the other really. I simply find it odd that those who oppose a national ID card will act as though it is not within the governments ability today to track you based upon data which you more than happily supply them with already.

By the way - do you own a cell phone? Do you know if the phone is GPS  (almost all new ones are) enabled? Do you know whether your phone company is already supplying the government with phone records or not?
