    of the third stage of capitalism, consumer capitalism, as discussed in Kees van der Pijl's Transnational Capital and International Relations, which I discussed in a diary late last year... the problem is that the class compromise upon which that stage of capitalism was founded is no longer...

      Cassiodorus, I found your parent link to be very interesting. A lot of what you wrote does make a lot of sense.  A lot of what Pijl is thinking would be too frightening to the elite--if they even understood it.  Of course, a relative of mine has his simple solution.  God will make us new oil after the rapture occurs!!!
