One of the main reasons that people vote for Repulicons is that they fight for things.  The wrong things, to be sure, but the American people want their leaders to be strong.  They don't want someone who will back down when challenged.

For that reason, no matter what else might be going on here, it's important for the Democrats to send Bush the same bill back again.  Or one even tougher.  They need to show the American people that they know how to fight.

Otherwise, they will conclude, correctly, that the Democrats are just too weak, and too afraid, to depend on for anything.

Think of it this way:  Bush has just kicked sand in the faces of the Democratic Senators and Representatives.  So....  Are they going to run home crying to Momma?  Or are they going to punch the bully right in the nose?

We don't need to enact a damn thing.

W ain't fighting a war without our money.  HE needs to come up with a compromise, not US.

We already had to compromise with a whole bunch of Dems who wanted us out NOW.

Why the Hell should we negotiate against ourselves?  Screw W.  We have 70% on our side.

Just keep up the rhetoric about how we gave W the money he wanted but W wanted to run things in the same old, same old pig-headed way that has led us to disaster.

Here's a President who helps set up a fairly-bipartisan commission to figure out a way out of Iraq and then he rejects everything they recommend and opts for an idiotic surge policy that NOBODY recommended.

Screw him.  We should never have given him a dime the last time around.  Don't give him a dime this time unless it's to pay for withdrawal.

        watch the word filibuster carefully.

I suspect Reid will now start making all his normal mealy-mouthed statements about why the Democrats can't filibuster anything in the Senate.  He works very hard to make sure that tool is never used to stop the Republican\Bush agenda.

What the Dems want is symbolic votes that they know don't count for anything.  That's what we've seen up till now.  Useless, BS votes that didn't mean a thing and where it was safe for the Democrats to stand up and pretend they oppose the war.

But watch the key votes.  Watch the votes on the bills with money.  Watch closely, and you'll see the Democrats lining up to support his war... again.

The GOP doesn't dictate the agenda anymore.  Why would you need to filibuster anything now?
