  •  7th, between D and E, in the First Addition. (0+ / 0-)

The tallest/oldest fir in Oswego was in our front yard, but I heard it was taken down a few years (or a decade) back.

My brother was one of the star athletes back in the 60s and still lives there, just outside the city limits between Childs Road and the Tualatin.

could probably spit onto our house with a good headwind. :)

First Addition rocks. Did you know Kari Chisholm growing up, by any chance?

      •  I don't recall any Chisolms... (1+ / 0-)

...but I'm 59 now and haven't lived there in a lot of years.  Last time I was back there was my 30th high school reunion, in 1996.

        •  do you know Oswego Playschool (0+ / 0-)

by any chance? It's on 8th and B, right near your house, and has been there since the 50s. I see you have a teacher's link; my spouse teaches there now.

        •  Going to my 50th reunion in September. (1+ / 0-)

Franklin High School grad, here. KLM lives just blocks from my old HS, and she was raised on a ranch in Idaho. Weird how things work out. By the way, a Franklin grad, an outstanding quarterback, played for BSU, but not as a quarterback. Legadu Nanee has been drafted by the San Diego Chargers. That, and "crying" singer, Johnny Ray, our big claim to fame.

          I think, therefore I am, I think.

I was born in St. Vincent's and spent my first year and a bit in the Scandanavian ghetto in the Albina district.

There are all kinds of cool things going on in the district. A farmers market, new businesses, even the movie theater has been restored, and an "artists" center being planned. When I was a kid, used to take the bus to the Montevilla swimming pool. It weirdly looks on the outside like it did then.

Benson was an all boy high school and Poly Tech was all girl. They were what we now call alternative or magnet schools, I guess. Jefferson was always especially tough in football, I remember. Or, at least I think I remember that. Franklin was more into basketball, probably because we had good teams, and were "so so" in football. I remember standing in the rain, watching games. No one sat down when it rained. Old Benjie looks the same, but I imagine lots is different inside. They just finally bought new choir robes, still using the same ones I wore a gazillion years ago. Those of us who were in "A" choir are going to rehearse in our old choir room (which was new then), and sing at the last night of the reunion. I haven't even looked in the school annuals since the 20th, so weird that I am interested in the 50th. But, I ramble.

              I think, therefore I am, I think.
