there was a concrete goal in advance to find local people who'd like to learn the trade.

Be good to each other. It matters.

and I'd like to talk with Georgia about it.

One of the problems on the rez is finding work for people.  I just see the Mexican disposition being a good match for the Lakota people.  I have a sense, I guess, because I grew up around Indians, most of my best friends were the same.

The reason casino culture rules on the rez is precisely because there are so few other kinds of employment available.  And I've seen brilliant stonework on the Navaho reservation.  Geometry comes quite naturally to most native cultures.

Just don't forget that this particular reservation has a gold mine of talent.

Sitting Bull College has a building construction training program - those students could also be trained in masonry, or perhaps just put up a building if we could get donated material.

Check www.standingrock.org for more details about the reservation. From what I've found out from Googling the chairman, Ron His Horse is Thunder, you've got a brilliant lawyer and grantwriter built right into this project.

Anyway, I guess my point is not to forget the talent right there in Standing Rock. It seems like a matter of coordination and reaching out to a bunch of different folks.
