    ...somebody talking some sense about the EC; something I've been trying to do on this blog for quite some time.

    The presidential election is not one election; it is fifty separate elections.

    This is a republic of fifty states, and the constitution gives each state the right to apportion its electors however it chooses.

    Abolishing the electoral college would cause more problems than it would solve, as Muttley has so eloquently explained.  The founding fathers knew they were creating a flawed system, but to paraphase:

    "the electoral college is the worst way to elect a president, except for every other way."
