    In 1994 Republicans pushed Prop 187 and rode a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment to victory.

    It was their last time. Ever since that election Republicans have been decimated in the state of California. They alienated Latino voters and handed the Democrats the state. Sure, Arnold made his way into government, but only by convincing Latinos he had rejected the bigotry that the CA Republican Party had become known for.

    What we're seeing is this happening on a national scale.

      between the right-wing base (kick 'em out) and the business/political class of the GOP (they work for us, they could vote for us).

      Progressives would benefit greatly from exploiting this crack in their coalition.
