  •  And Saddam really did have WMDs. (0+ / 0-)

But only a few decaying ones here and there, that were useless and he probably didn't know still existed.

Sorry if I'm too skeptical of the Bush Administration.

to convince me that Iran is dangerous and would be more dangerous with nukes. That's just a fact. Many other nations broadly agree that a nuclear Iran is dangerous. I don't trust Bush at all, but are you going to tell me that the EU is wrong in deeming Iran a threat? Is it wrong for them to try to talk the Iranians out of it?

Pakistan has nukes.  So does North Korea, whose leader seems much less stable than Iran's.
As for the EU, most of them agreed that Saddam was a threat, just not enough for many of them to join our invasion.  They wouldn't invade Iran, either.

open hostility towards the US is the difference. Plus they are not naturally checked by a major international actor, such as the DPRK is by China.

          •  Pakistan is a state sponsor, (0+ / 0-)

and they have a very unstable regime.  Their nukes are a bigger threat.

            •  Not like Iran (0+ / 0-)

Iran is absolutely unchecked in their sponsorship, and their goals are broader and more damaging. Pakistan does it for a purpose, which is to return Kashmir, which we can both agree is more limited in scope.

Besides, we're just splitting hairs here. No doubt it would have been good to stop AQ Khan before Pakistan go t the bomb, but you can't win em all. However, it looks like we might have a chance to stop Iran from procuring and/or using nukes.

              •  Iran supports terrorists (0+ / 0-)

in Lebanon and Palestine.  They probably support the Shias in Iraq.  I'm not sure what other groups they support, if any.
Pakistan supports their partisans in Kashmir.  They probably support groups in Afghanistan, too, like the Taliban.  I'm not sure about any other groups that they support, if any, but I recall reading in 2001 that the three greatest state sponsors of international terrorism were Pakistan, Iran, and Sudan.
