  •  I left Wachovia when I left NC. (6+ / 0-)

I'm pleased it was over a decade ago...

    This is disgusting.

for a number of reasons, mainly fees, but I also recall something they did that made the news in CA, I believe. That was the tipping point.

I also had the great pleasure of sending in my State Farm car insurance renewal with "YOU HAVE BEEN CANCELLED" written across it, plus a note that this was in return for what they did to Katrina victims. The note also said "Hooray for free enterprise!" It's a hassle to change your house insurance mid-term, but when it comes due, I'm dumping that as well. I signed with Progressive for my car insurance, a blue company. So there!

I need to find an honest, pro-consumer home insurance company. Seems like they're all crooks these days. Almost all have a long yellowsheet with the TX AG.

I think we may have (?) Erie, but that won't help you in CA.

        YOU HAVE BEEN CANCELLED!

        Love it.

according to my new independent agent. He mentioned Farmers, but in TX they had a huge settlement a few years ago - I just remember mentally scratching them of my list. They're ALL crooked.

Yeah, I really loved the big CANCELLED note. Felt great.

They're auto only. I wish they offered property insurance because I need to get some renter's insurance soon and I have Progressive for my auto insurance.

      •  Funny thing is, aren't we down to like 6 banks (3+ / 0-)

total in this country?  What is there: Citibank, Chase, Wachovia, Bank of America, Capital One?  Can anyone name any other major nationwide credit card issuers and branch banks?  Those are the only ones I ever seem to hear from anymore or notice wherever I drive around anymore...

If you or your parent served in the military, chances are you can get coverage with USAA.

Our house was damaged by Hurricane Charley in 2004. They sent an adjuster within days, and we received a check withing a week after the adjuster submitted her report. It was a positive experience during a stressful time.

I've been using USAA since my first car. Before my husband and I were married, I suggested he give them a call after State Farm had dropped his car insurance. All my husband had to do was give them his father's social security number (his father served in WWII), and he was able to get coverage immediately. They initiated coverage over the phone before my husband even sent them a check. Needless to say, my husband was very impressed.
