    make just about anything better.

And I didn't mean to imply your mom is facing death... I just like that in the midst of her travails, she has the grace and presence of mind to wish for Gonzales to go down - and it reminded me of my mom.

It's an underlying implication sorta always with her, and given the course of MS and her general health, I'm at least intellectually aware that death isn't likely to be years and years away. We're also in Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal, and I have no doubt that should she be told that her end is truly near, she would strongly consider that option.

I'm Catholic, but I'd absolutely support her choice in that decision. I voted for it twice. (Since the legislature didn't seem to believe we meant it the first time the initiative passed, it had to go through again.)

With my great-grandma (who raised my mom - yeah, she was also supposed to die "at any time" after 1956 - and did, finally, when I was 15 or 16, in the mid-1980s!), I was always sure that each time I saw her would be the last. She also was sure of that, and so I have a dose of fatalism mixed in with anticipatory grief about my mom. Now all I need is a little umbrella and some ice...

      Or pooties. :) Yes. Pooties.

Oh - and happy would've-been-89th to your mom, who I trust is rejoicing over Wolfowitz' resignation now, too.
