  •  One book and an author (11+ / 0-)

I loved Little Women growing up, not just for the sister relationships, but for the power of the friendship with the next-door neighbor.

And I love Anne Tyler because she usually has quirky, powerful friendships develop between unlikely characters. Over the years, I've become much more appreciative of friendships in literature (and real life). I think the romantic love interest is often glorified at the expense of what are often longer-lasting, deep friendships (in real life and literature).

    •  Yes, I agree about Little Women (5+ / 0-)

and Tyler's Accidental Tourist is one I liked for that reason...with his boss Julius visiting and falling in love with his sister...delightful!!
