the book is mostly about how the character has grown up and moved on in the world, but comes back to the lessons of life and the unforgettable connections from her childhood frog pond days. It was very poignant for me to read, as someone who puposely left the "frog pond" and rural existence behind... only to find out how important my memories and connections really were!

    And, cfk, like you said:

              Poliwogs were always fascinating.

I still can't pass a polliwog without marveling at it!! (I teach school and, thankfully, work with nature nuts who keep tanks of critters that never cease to amaze me!)

    •  You would love my husband who teaches (3+ / 0-)

biology and the kids bring him things all the time.

I love the country except when I need to talk with people who love books.  :)
