Strait of Hormuz open is no more controling the Middle East than keeping the Panama canal open is controling Central America .
Jimmy said , keep us from buying the oil that flows via the Strait of Hormuz by shutting down the Strait
and we will reopen it via arms . Iran does not own the strait . Iran was trying to control the flow of oil ,
by shuting down the flow from oil wells that were not Irans .

What bushboy has done is nothing like what Jimmy did .
Black and white / night and day .

Jimmy reacted to a real threat with a strong warning ,
bushboy reacted to a non threat with shock and awe .

      Not same same .

      •  Well what about this Idea . . . (0+ / 0-)

Jimmy said , keep us from buying the oil that flows via the Strait of Hormuz by shutting down the Strait
and we will reopen it via arms .

That football dropped conveniently into the Republican Party after the Carter years.

Don't be so quibbly.  The Democrats have done us in just as much as the Rs.  They both signed off on our Empire.

        •  What are you smokeing ? (0+ / 0-)

"The Democrats have done us in just as much as the Rs"
          Thats just not factual !

What Jimmy did was right .
You can not say what Jimmy did lead to what bushboy did .

          "Don't be so quibbly."
Don't fling falsehoods and I will have no need to "quibble".

          quib·ble (kwĭb'əl) pronunciation
          intr.v., bled, bling, -bles.

          1. To evade the truth or importance of an issue by raising trivial distinctions and objections.
          1. To find fault or criticize for petty reasons; cavil.

n.1. A petty distinction or an irrelevant objection.

          1. Archaic. A pun.

And I am not quibbling , you made a statement that I find grossly untrue .

when you're talking about the difference between Carter saying keep the sea lanes open (a stance many nations were glad to see the US taking, by the way, because it could affect them too)and BUsh saying "We'll come in and take over your country, topple your government, kick all the Sunnis out of government thereby starting an insurgency, and steamroller you any way we want to to get direct control of your oil, while lying to our own people about what we're doing and why."

      These are not details.

Don't buy the lie that this mess "started with Jimmy Carter."  Dem presidents have not been saints, but this is a REPUBLICAN war base on the Republicans being totally owned by corporate interests.
