    The idea of Iraq existed to the extent a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein could will it. Once the iron will fell, the term "Iraqi" had no real meaning.

    Riverbend would disagree with your assessment that there was no "real" Iraq or "Iraqi" because the region has diversity in religion or culture.

        as one of the reasons why we cannot win this war and why it was ill-fated from the beginning. The diarist is certainly entitled to his opinion, but that doesn't make it the correct opinion.

        It smacks of colonialism and it struck me immediately.  So, I said so.

        The diary had many excellent points and was very good, but I had to voice the contradiction in that comment.
