In case you haven't noticed, John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are on cable for half an hour a night each. ABC and FOX are both 24 hour broadcast channels. FOX, MSNBC and CNN all have a conservative bias (FOX, of course, being the worst offender). There is no 24 news channel with a liberal bias, or even one with no bias (Who could imagine such a thing?) Michael Moore's movies cost $9.00 to see in theaters. "Path to 9/11" was available on broadcast television to anyone with a television.

Almost all of the left-of-center voices in the mainstream media are comedians: Stewart, Colbert, Maher, etc. That should show how seriously their point of view is taken by the people who own the networks. "You can go out there and do a little song and dance, but no serious reporting or anything like that. Oh, and you're going to be relegated to late-night cable."

Oh, and, by the way, if Michael Moore is a liberal, then I'm fucking Noam Chomsky.

You might want to check him out, by the way. Try "Manufacturing Consent."

    •  Michael Moore is most definitely liberal (0+ / 0-)

Maybe you don't think he's a leftist.  Dittoheads might not understand the distinction, but you should.

that has been bothering me lately since reading an article in the Believer, called The Two Jameses by Carlo Rotella (you have to pay to read the whole thing).

One of the main points was that the wealthy liberal elite, who live in enclaves of people like them, send kids to private school, have a lot of very civilized gentle values, and have all the pretensions and credentials of a ruling class, have instead become an 'Irrelevant Class' because they have none of the will and moral strength to stand up to those who really run the country - like wealthy oilmen, etc, you know the list.  One of his 'James' friends calls them "slow-running deer with targets on their foreheads".

I'd love to diary that here just because I'd like to see the responses and arguments, maybe I will, just have to brace myself for the rapid scroll-off with 3 comments...
